AccuRounds Selected to Participate in Statewide Worksite Wellness Initiative

Avon (August, 2016) … Since Fall 2015, 75 employees from AccuRounds in Avon, MA joined Massachusetts’ new worksite wellness initiative. The program, called Working on Wellness, provides up to $10,000 in funding and hands-on support to employers as they develop and implement policies and programs that enable healthy employee behavior. Employers include non-profits, for-profits, and government entities. “The MA Working on Wellness program is a wonderful opportunity for Giner, Inc. We have hard working people who are focused on their jobs, and with a half hour lunch break, that doesn’t leave much time for activity during the work day. We feel the Giner, Inc. Working on Wellness program will offer employees healthy choices, nutritional information, stress relief and focus on wellness and safety. The results we expect are happier, healthier, more focused and energetic employees.” - Doreen LeBlanc, Worksite Wellness Program participant from Giner Inc. in Newton, MA.

Working on Wellness helps organizations create a step-by-step road map for their wellness program and provides the funding to help put their plan in action. Workplaces can support healthy behaviors like regular physical activity, healthy eating, tobacco cessation and stress management. Employers benefit from worksite wellness programs through lower insurance and workers compensation costs, increased employee productivity, and decreased employee absenteeism. Organizations can create healthy environments that allow employees to be productive while also addressing wellness and reducing risk for chronic health conditions. Working on Wellness, a collaboration among the Massachusetts Department of Public Health, Health Resources in Action (HRiA), and AdvancingWellness, is accepting applications for its next and final round of funding. The program helps Massachusetts employers successfully develop, implement and sustain policies and programs to create a supportive work environment and enable employees to engage in healthy behaviors. This statewide initiative helps participating worksites adopt sustainable policies and practices that promote and protect the health of employees. Working on Wellness is funded by the Prevention and Wellness Trust Fund, as established by Chapter 224 of the Acts of 2012.
