SBANE’s Most Recent Cutting Edge Series “Technology for the 21st Century”
SBANE’s most recent Cutting Edge Series was held Thursday, March 3, 2011 at The Assurance, Tax and Consulting office of McGladrey in Boston. The event, entitled “Technology for the 21st Century” brought together local small business owners to help them discover technology supplier opportunities with SBANE partner, Raytheon Integrated Defense Systems. Over the past five years, SBANE has successfully helped introduce small businesses to Raytheon IDS.
After the opening remarks from SBANE President Bob Baker and Les Vitale, partner at McGladrey, the attendee’s listened to a panel presentation from Kevin Peppe, Vice President of Seapower Capability Systems at Raytheon, Colin Whelan, Technology Director, Advanced Technology at Raytheon and Luis Barros, Managing Partner, Exeter Science and Technology Group; Principal Advisor, Larta Institute; Reviewer, Kentucky Science Technology Corporation.
The manufacturing and technology capability opportunities included cabling and resource management under manufacturing, data fusion, open sensor architectures, debris mitigation, discrimination under Architecture/Command and Control, anti-tamper, AESA, s-band radar, advanced energy storage, unmanned systems and multifunction RF technologies under Sensors/Platforms. Also included under homeland security; chemical, biological radiation, nuclear and explosive.
Following the presentations, the 114 attendees could sign up for “Speed Networking”, allowing them private one on one time with a Raytheon Representative.
Attendees enjoyed McGladrey’s sampling hors d’oeuvres and talking shop long past the presentations and the speed networking.
