What are the New England Innovation Awards all about?
Nominations from a wide variety of companies are welcome. Former nominees have come from varying fields such as technology, manufacturing, service, (profit and non-profit), and retail/distribution. "Rising Star" companies in the early stage of development that have clearly demonstrated the validity of their business, but not yet profitable, will also be considered.
Since innovation doesn't always fall neatly into a single category, judges will consider each entry on its own merits. Past Award winners include some of the most recognizable names in New England business, including Staples, PictureTel, Ben & Jerry's, Brooks Automation, Direct Tire, Genzyme, Security Dynamics, Nantucket Nectars, Imagitas!, Aurora Imaging Technology, and iRobot.

WHAT TYPE OF BUSINESSES SHOULD BE NOMINATED?
The Rising Star category will be given to an early stage business that has clearly demonstrated the validity of its business, but may not yet be profitable.
Innovation does not always fall neatly into a single category. If a company meets the requirements but does not fit a category, the committee will consider the entry on its merits.
REQUIREMENTS
While profitability is not a requirement, our panel of judges weigh heavily on those businesses that have demonstrated the validity of their innovation through bottom line results.
Non-profit corporations will be considered in a separate category utilizing the same criteria except "profitability."
