"Social Media in the Workplace: What’s an Employer To Do? Assessing Your Options in the Online World."

Program Overview:

Today, social media or social networking sites like Twitter®, Facebook® and LinkedIn® are growing by leaps and bounds. Some employers have blocked access to these social networking sites on company computers. Other employers are taking full advantage of the power of social networking by, for example "tweeting" on Twitter®, creating Facebook® "fan pages" or LinkedIn® groups to promote their brand or to allow their employees to communicate with other businesses, customers and employees about business issues. Some employers even require employees to participate, raising concerns about privacy and worklife balance. Employers can benefit from embracing social networking, but there has to be a balance. Employers also need to protect clients, employees and the company's reputation. Regardless of how much an employer embraces social networking, employers should have a policy that is fair to employees and prevents unnecessary exposure to the company.

What You Will Learn

· What kinds of Social Networking Sites are out there?
· How are employers using social media to their advantage
· How employers are approaching their employees' use of such sites?
· What are the security issues? · What policies should you consider adopting?
· What are the potential traps and pitfalls?

Please join us on March 30, 2010, for an informative and interactive discussion addressing these questions and others as we explore this timely topic.
