SBANE hosts a variety of events, including networking, educational, political roundtables, capital connections, HR, innovation and prime connections that attract small and medium size business owners from across the region. These events are held in a variety of locations to accommodate the geographic diversity of small business community. Some of our most popular events are our New England Innovation Forum and Rhode Island Breakfast Series, as well as more industry specific events hosted through our committees, such as Advanced Manufacturing and Technology and Innovation. You’ll expand your professional network, meet SBANE members and add to your base of business contacts. SBANE hosts an average of 4-6 events per month and offers a discount, and in some cases complimentary, tickets to members.
The SBANE Service Providers Group is a formal Service Providers Networking and Referral Group that will provide its members with excellent opportunities to meet other like-minded SBANE members during structured monthly meetings, enabling them to seek the benefit from potential mutual referrals and pointed networking
SBANE offers group health insurance plans to members through partner organization Health Services Administrators. Health Services Administrators is your one-stop-shop for health, dental, and other employee benefits.
The SBANE Member Marketplace provides a forum for members to offer their products and/or services with an incentive, available exclusively to fellow SBANE members. The Member Marketplace also has a “Needs” section for SBANE members to post job openings, products/services needed, etc.
SBANE will post press releases, news stories and events from any member company on the SBANE homepage and offers a variety of event sponsorships to maximize exposure. SBANE also offers an exclusive discount on Constant Contact email services to members.
SBANE has the expertise to identify non-traditional, non-bank capital solutions for the small business owner to finance its growth or sustainability. These non-bank lenders specialize in capital availability, provide an infusion of new working capital and asset-based debt in collaboration with your current lender.
SBANE has a diverse and active committee structure. Committee involvement is an excellent way for our members to become deeply involved with the organization and meet like-minded business owners and CEO’s.

SBANE can facilitate an introduction to seek an evaluation from Raytheon as to whether your competencies and capabilities meet Raytheon’s supplier platform.
SBANE has no paid lobbyists, is nonpartisan, and supports no candidates, but it exercises considerable political clout through grassroots efforts at both the state and federal levels. SBANE’s volunteer board of directors, supported by reporting committees, sends legislative alerts to members, and each year members meet with their legislators in Washington, D.C. to review current issues affecting their company’s bottom lines.
SBANE’s Washington DC-based partner, the National Small Business Association, provides around-the-clock coverage for small business initiatives.

A: A Chamber of Commerce is more regional in scope and includes all companies, including retail. SBANE membership is throughout the six New England states and our member base is comprised of CEO’s of small, privately-funded businesses or family-owned businesses.
A: The SBA is the US Small Business Administration, a government agency established in the 1950’s while the Smaller Business Association of New England (SBANE) is a private, not-for-profit association created in 1938.
A: SBANE has about 600 member companies located throughout New England, from varying fields such as technology, manufacturing, service (profit and non-profit), and retail/distribution.
A: HR, Programs, and Breakfast Committees each have developed criteria and it all begins with membership! The talent pool within SBANE is both broad and deep and we look there first.
- The Breakfast Committee looks for success stories of CEO’s, economic forecasts, political outlooks, and other timely subjects.
- The HR Committee’s focus is self-evident, but encourages suggestions from the membership-at-large.
- The Programs Committee uses focus groups, surveys, and actual attendance to project the most relevant content and recruits expertise accordingly.
Prospective speakers are strongly encouraged to become familiar with SBANE by attending programs and using this experience to shape subsequent recommendations.
A: There are four to six networking events per month, some include a short presentation by a prominent or influential leader within the New England area, and some are strictly networking. Also, networking is an important part of our monthly Breakfast and Cutting Edge Series.
