Westin Waltham Host’s MA Life Sciences Center at November Breakfast Event
Waltham, MA – SBANE held its monthly Massachusetts breakfast event meeting on Wednesday, November 18, 2009 from 7:30 – 9:00am at the Westin Hotel in Waltham, MA. Keynote speaker, Susan Windham-Bannister, PHD, President and CEO of the MA Life Sciences Center discussed the organization’s core initiatives, which included not only promoting economic development, but also strengthening and protecting Massachusetts’ global leadership position.
Susan also provided the audience with examples of past infrastructure investment projects that the MA Life Sciences Center has provided grant money to. Examples included the new Genzyme manufacturing building in the Commonwealth, the Loeb Lab at the Howard Hughes Medical Institute, the Albert Sherman Center at University of Massachusetts Medical School and the New England Regional Biosafety Laboratory for the Tufts Cummings School of Veterinary Medicine.
Lastly, audience members learned about the various tax incentives, the accelerator program and the MA Life Sciences Center matching grant program for investments in scientific research and workforce development.
